First interdisciplinary meeting of the bioinformatics community in West Africa

WAVE Center, Félix Houphouët-Boigny University UFHB, Joseph Ki-Zerbo University UJKS and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development IRD, are organizing a meeting in West Africa for bioinformaticians, system administrators, and all professionals around these fields.

This meeting will be held in Abidjan, from December 15 to 17, 2025, and will bring together some 40 participants from various countries in the region (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Kenya, Cameron, DRC, South Africa) working on bioinformatics-related trades in various fields around plants and health.

The aim of this first meeting is to build up a core of key people to structure a regional community in bioinformatics and systems administration. To promote interdisciplinary research between biology, genomics, computer science, mathematics and statistics, and to bring together the bioinformatics community in West Africa. This need has been identified on several occasions in recent years, notably during regional training courses held in Yvory Coast and Burkina Faso.

The Bioinformatics French Institut IFB, the Bioinformatics French Society SFBI and the Bioinformatic Master of Montpellier University - UM will be on hand to share their expertise.
